Bishops Court, Newton Ferrers Bishops Court is a development of 25 one and two bedroomed apartments with related communal and staff facilities in the centre of Newton Ferrers, a picturesque village located on the South Devon Coast. The scheme has been developed by Signpost Housing Association and is of mixed tenure with a combination of units for rent and shared ownership. The scheme has been designed to provide an extra care housing solution for frail elderly / wheelchair users within their community when their own home is no longer suitable. The scheme comprises three blocks of apartments; two new build and one retaining the Old School Building. The new build elements are constructed using both traditional load bearing construction and timber frame construction and a varied palette of materials are used within the elevations. By creating separate buildings it was possible to break up the roofscape, allowing the new building to fit in well with the existing grain and form of the village. Completion of the development was phased with Stage 1 in 2006 and the final completion in 2007. |
