Becton Dickinson Since 1998 ADG have been providing Becton Dickinson (BD) with architectural input to support it’s ongoing maintenance and development programme at the Plymouth site and more recently at the Swindon arm of the company, totaling approximately four million pounds worth of investment. BD is a multi-national, precision manufacturing company specialising in the production of pharmaceutical supplies and medical devices. Recent work at Plymouth has included internal feasibility studies to re-configure it’s manufacturing areas, alterations to the staff canteen and internal remodeling of class 100,000 clean room areas. More recently ADG designed an extension to the warehouse to accommodate a new Cobalt Inadiator facility, totalling approximately £8 million of further investment. ADG have therefore developed a good understanding of the manufacturing processes, which has been essential in the development of option appraisals. At BD’s Swindon facility ADG have recently completed the design and build of a 22,000sq.ft extension to it’s warehouse and production facility, which marked the start of the major expansion at the site. The contractor led project involved the early appointment of the consultant team to advance the detail design phase and allow work to commence on site as soon as planning permission was granted. This, combined with specialized fast track cladding systems, allowed the client to occupy the new extension quicker than with traditional methods. ADG has also completed the design for the Phase 2 expansion at Swindon. This includes an additional 12,000sqft of production space and extensive reconfiguration of site parking and access, totalling a further investment of £2 million. |
