Children Centres ADG designed new children’s centres based at eleven existing schools and other premises in Plymouth. All projects contained a ‘generic’ children’s centre as well as individual school improvements. These included new kitchens, school hall, nursery provision, school reception, staff and teaching accommodation. Feasibilities were initially undertaken and options developed for each individual sites. This was an interesting and challenging project for the team, which require complex project management and co-ordination of team members. Early invlovement of contractor project managers achieved value engineered solutions and co-ordinated information within the local authority framework partnership demonstrating the value of effective collaboration. ADG were lead designers and project managers taking responsibility for all consultant appointments. The project at Oreston Primary included the development of a new school hall and kitchen facility incorporating a range of sustainable features including high levels of insulation and installation of a heat pump. |
