Exeter Quayside As part of the Exeter Canal Basin Masterplan ADG collaborated with initially Sutton Harbour Holdings Ltd and then Spectrum Housing Association to gain planning permission on this prominent site within the Canal Basin area of Exeter and then ultimately took the project to a Tender / Building Regulation Stage.With a contract value in the order of £1.2 million, the scheme involved detailed discussions and a highly successful collaboration with Exeter City Council Planning and Urban Design Departments, resulting in a well considered and high quality design solution on a very challenging site. This Western site faces onto Haven Banks Road, the Canal itself and also Piazza Terracina. As a finished scheme, it is felt that Canal Basin West will enhance the vibrancy of the public space, whilst also providing new contemporary and secure living spaces designed to a very high standard. The project has recently been completed. The team initially developed proposals for the Old Electricity Building and adjoining new build site, which through concentrated negotiations with the LPA, Urban Designers and Conservation Officers, a successful Planning Approval was achieved. The first phase has now been completed by an alternative development team. Whilst progressing the design of these initial elements of the masterplan, ADG were then invited to take over two additional projects and ultimately succeeded in achieving the approvals for Sites A (West) and B (East). |
