Architects Design Group Plymouth Devon South West UK

Recruitment

We know that there's more to relocating than simply working with us - you will need to know what jobs are available for your partner, where your children can go to school, how much a new home might cost...

While we might not be able to anticipate every question, here are some pointers which we hope will help you see what we know already - that Devon and Cornwall are wonderful places to live!

A beautiful location - Plymouth is located in a stunning area of outstanding natural beauty and surrounded by Dartmoor National Park to the north, the natural harbour of Plymouth Sound to the south, Cornwall to the west, and Devon to the east.

Strong transport links - Plymouth is situated conveniently on the A38 expressway which links into the M5. The city is on the main rail network from London Paddington to Penzance, offering 15 daily trains reaching London in a fastest journey time of three hours. Plymouth City Airport offers flights to destinations including Gatwick, Dublin, Jersey, Aberdeen and Liverpool. Nearby Exeter and Newquay airports also offer frequent comprehensive connections.

Attractive house prices - The average house price in Plymouth is around 50% of the cost of similar accommodation in Greater London. However, there are a wide range of types of housing, and costs, across Devon and Cornwall, from premium level waterfront apartments and Victorian townhouses to thatched country cottages.

Low crime rate - Devon and Cornwall has a crime rate lower per 1000 population than the national average (Home Office Crime Statistics - All Crimes - April 2004/March 2005).

Wide-ranging education - There are many higher education facilities in the city, including the University of Plymouth, Peninsula Medical School, Plymouth College of Further Education, Plymouth College of Art and Design and the College of St. Mark and St. John. There are 27,000 students at the University of Plymouth with a further 6,000 at partner colleges.

Enjoyable climate - Good news! The South West has more sunshine than anywhere else in the UK...but more rain as well. While snow rarely settles in urban areas, Dartmoor usually sees a thick enough covering for several winter afternoons' sledging!

Outstanding leisure facilities - The South West is an exceptional place to live for surfing, sailing and horse riding enthusiasts. It also has a growing reputation for quality locally-produced food and nationally renowned restaurants such as Rick Stein's in Padstow and Jamie Oliver's new Fifteen at Watergate Bay.
