Mountwise, Village by the Sea ADG have been appointed as lead consultant and lead designer for the first two phases of a development which will deliver 450 residential units, offices, retail units, a cafe, an hotel and data storage facility. The site has previously been occupied by the MOD and contains a number of listed buildings and significant archaeological features including an extensive tunnel system and lengths of a city wall. The design approach involved creating a unique environment in a stunning setting which elevated the importance of historic buildings and features and integrating new buildings designed in both traditional and contemporary styles. Much debate was had with the Planning Authority, English Heritage and key stakeholders in the local community all of whom responded enthusiastically to the final design proposals. |
